Silver's childhood friend Gold built the Night Thunder. Although Gold himself has passed away, his emotions and intellect live on—they were completely preserved using cybernetics and were programmed into the Night Thunder's navigation system. This machine is very competitive, with strong power bursts and an advanced dash ability.

F-Zero: GP Legend

The Night Thunder becomes available after clearing all the challenges in B-Class Zero Test. It has a very strong acceleration with impressive cornering but a very slow top speed.

F-Zero Climax

The Night Thunder becomes available after winning the bronze cup on expert overall.

Design and namesake

Design

The Night Thunder has a very sleek and aerodynamic look to its design. The nose is streamlined in three different areas to mitigate drag. On the nose is a lone cooling vent. Right behind it is the cockpit with a large canopy. To the sides are areas of negative space with metallic builds. In the back is the area with the engines arranged horizontally, two streamlined protrusions and one last cooling vent. The machine is mainly dark blue with yellow lightning bolts printed on the sides.

Name

The Night Thunder is comprised of the words night, the period of ambient darkness during the day and thunder, the sound produced by lightning.

Correlation

The night aspect of Night Thunder relates to the machine's dark blue color. As for thunder, it's related to the lightning printed on the sides of the machine as well as the machine's strong boost being able to far exceed the speed that the sound of thunder travels.

Differences between games

In F-Zero X, the Night Thunder lacked cooling vents all over the machine and had four engines instead of two. It changed from a navy blue to a brighter blue when it moved from F-Zero GX to F-Zero: GP Legend.
