Template:Character Lisa Brilliant is the pilot of the Panzer Emerald, and is the wife of Samurai Goroh.

As Lisa is a space pirate compared to her space bandit husband, they are not allowed to betray each other or get too deeply involved in each other's business due to their associations, but she has borrowed Goroh's bandits to assist her at times. Aside from being the pilot the Panzer Emerald, she also has her own battleship called the Excellent Queen.

While her lucky / favorite color is pink, her Panzer Emerald is green, as it is her husband’s favorite color. She apparently also designed or at least had some part in the coloration of Goroh’s machine, according to 'Bart' in one of the Classroom segments.

Appearance

Lisa is an adult woman with long wavy green hair and brown eyes. In her first appearance and disguise, she sported a short red dress with long sleeves revealing her shoulders, red boots, black sunglasses, a gold headpiece and jewelry, and a purple belt with a gold round buckle. Afterwards and more commonly, she wears a brown pilot hat with grey goggles, a ripped magenta top with a black undershirt, black wristbands, grey shoulder pads, purple pants with an orange belt, and brown boots with grey tips.

Personality

Lisa has no qualms in using her femininity to her advantage, and is shown to be quite clever and cunning. She was able to trick Jack into giving her the keys for the Astro Robin to hijack it, and was able to avoid being detected as the Lisa Brilliant until the end of Lap 5, despite her obvious disguise. Upon being captured by Bibiribitch's gang in Lap 25, she lured them into her cell by revealing some of her cleavage and exclaiming that it was hot in the cell, but successfully knocked them out and made her escape.

Despite her rowdy temperament and snark, she is also quite caring of her husband. However, she isn't afraid to confront him, as seen in Lap 13 when she pulls her blade on him in response to his seemingly passive stance on Antonio Guster's destructive behavior.

History

F-Zero Farukon Densetsu (Anime)

Pre-2201

At some point, Lisa Brilliant had become a Space Pirate, and married Samurai Goroh.

2201

She first appeared in Lap 5, observing a race from the crowd. After meeting the winner, Jack Levin, at a bar, she introduced herself as a woman named 'Lisa.' The two shared a drink and she eventually invited him to a game of pool. Unbeknownst to Jack, Lisa was simply using him, as she knocked him out to obtain the key for his machine, the Astro Robin.

Upon hijacking the machine, she was led to the Galaxy Police HQ, soon realizing that Jack and the others in the Elite Mobile Task Force were not just F-Zero pilots. Using Jack's key to unlock the Task Force's vault of treasures and trophies, Lisa would steal the goods for herself. Dr. Clash, who had encountered her, was knocked out shortly after questioning who she was. Moments after, Lisa would fire her machine gun at the Task Force's machines and trophies, laughing before making her escape.

The following day, it was revealed that she temporarily repainted the Astro Robin to better suit her tastes, but was forced to give it back after being caught between Dr. Stewart's Golden Fox and the two-seated Dragon Bird with Ryu Suzaku and Jack inside. However, she made her escape on Samurai Goroh's Fire Stingray, leaving Jack to realize he had been duped by none other than the space pirate Lisa Brilliant, the wife of Samurai Goroh.

It was revealed in Lap 21 that Lisa participated in the 2201 Ladies Race sometime within the same year, rivaled by Jody Summer. She would lose to Jody, as footage from that year's race revealed that Jody was crowned as Miss Galaxy.

2202

Lisa brought up her issues with fellow space bandit Antonio Guster's reckless habits and Goroh's passive stance in Lap 13, but quickly backed down upon realizing she wouldn't get through to her husband.

While she has borrowed Goroh's bandits (Sasuke, Tsukikage, Gensai, Hakuun) in the past, she was seen with a few white Dark Soldiers aboard her ship during Lap 21. Within the same episode, she was also part of the 2202 Ladies Race, but was kidnapped by Dark Million under Miss Killer's orders, along with the Arrow couple and Kate Alen. Rather than try to work together to escape, the women bickered in their cells as Samurai Goroh and his bandits arrived to rescue Lisa.

To their surprise and disbelief, the women were fighting, with Lisa demanding her hair to be let go of. At the race, she engaged in a serious battle with Kate Alen, to the point of calling for her Excellent Queen battleship to fire at the songstress' machine. Mr. Zero called for Lisa's disqualification due to warfare on the track.

In Lap 25, she boarded a ship and snatched a Reactor Might for herself. Zoda, upon hearing this, sent a galaxy wide bounty out for her, which lured Bibiribitch and his men. Lisa was then kidnapped by Bibiribitch's gang and held captive on a Dark Million ship, as Zoda obtained her Reactor Might. However, Lisa lured some of Bibiribitch's men into her cell, and took the chance to make her escape after knocking them out. She was then rescued by Samurai Goroh and Ryu Suzaku.

When she ran in, guns blazing, to save her husband in Lap 49, she was seen with Bibiribitch and the rest of his crew who were dressed in pink, as Lisa made them part of her own crew.

During Lap 51, both Lisa and her husband arrived in their respective battleships to assist Ryu and the Elite Mobile Task Force against Dark Million's battalion of ships.

2207

She was last seen at the 2207 F-Zero Grand Prix with her husband.

F-Zero GP Legend (GBA game)

F-Zero GP Legend Manual
File:FZGPLLisaBrilliant.png (US): Lisa is Samurai Goroh's wife, and not even he is willing to mess with her. While Goroh has a great many subordinates, it's likely that many agreed to work under him because they were charmed by Lisa.
(PAL): Samurai Goroh’s wife — even he does what he’s told when she’s around! Goroh has many followers, but it’s a safe bet that many of them joined his gang because of her.

In the F-Zero GP Legend GBA game, Lisa is a playable character with her machine, the Panzer Emerald. She is also featured as a Story Mode character.

F-Zero GP Legend Story Mode

Due to the game being released only 8 episodes into the anime's original JP airtime, and the game being loosely based on the anime, the Story Mode is not canon.

Lisa loses her memory shortly after crashing in a race, as Black Shadow watches from afar. She ends up on Red Canyon and stumbles into a bar, coming across Samurai Goroh. To Goroh's dismay, Lisa doesn't recognize him as her own husband, who then accuses her of poisoning him. The two engage in a race and Lisa wins, although she claims she still doesn't recognize him, as he tells her to stop messing around. She then confesses that she has no memory, which shocks Goroh. Before Goroh can question the situation further, Lisa heads off, leaving her husband wishing he could help her if it were not for his own issue at hand.

She then meets Antonio Guster on Silence, agreeing to help him in a race in exchange for Antonio's contact who can restore Lisa's memory. She wins the race, but Antonio heads off, commending 'big sis' (rank, not sibling referral) on her skill that seems to be a little overbearing for him.

Lisa then encounters Zoda in Mute City, who reuses the claim of being able to restore her memory if she becomes his subordinate. Desperate, Lisa accepts the challenge of a race and wins. Zoda, untrue to his word, taunts Lisa, but Black Shadow arrives to dispose of him and instead offers his hand to Lisa with the same deal. Lisa, however, recognizes Black Shadow.

The two then head to Lightning, where they race. If Lisa loses, she becomes Black Shadow's subordinate. If she wins, her memory will be restored. However, as Lisa wins the race, Black Shadow's Black Bull is destroyed and is seen exploding. Captain Falcon (Andy Summer) arrives shortly after, not quite believing in Black Shadow's demise. Lisa remarks that 'Goroh will go nuts if he sees [Falcon]' and quickly realizes that her memory has returned, along with the fact that Goroh owes her money.

Lisa Brilliant (English Translation): She's married to pilot Samurai Goroh and is part of his group of bandits. Samurai Goroh has many subordinates, but it seems they often join, longing after her instead. While Samurai Goroh might be a simple thief, Lisa instead calls herself a space pirate.

Trivia

    • On one of the DVD covers for the anime, Goroh is seen brandishing his katana with doll-like charms of both himself and Lisa attached to the sheath. This is the only time such a thing is seen.
  • Because of English localization in the F-Zero GP Legend GBA game, many fans believed that Lisa Brilliant was the older sister of Antonio Guster. In the JP version, the term "anesan" is used, clarifying that is is merely a rank-related referral within the Space Bandits and not an actual sibling referral.[2] The F-Zero GP Legend GBA game is also the only time such a thing ever comes up.
