Mr. EAD is the pilot of the Great Star, and is a member of the Elite Mobile Task Force. He developed a fondness for Kate Alen as of Lap 6 - Songstress Kate Alen.

Personality

In a stark contrast to his Mainverse counterpart, the Animeverse Mr. EAD is more humble and kindhearted.

As seen in Lap 06, he is sympathetic despite what he is, assuring Kate that he knew exactly what it was like to feel used by the world, but also telling her that he wouldn't use anyone else. His selflessness also shows in the same episode, as instead of chasing after Zoda like the rest of the Mobile Task Force intended, he chose to protect Kate and sacrificed himself to keep her safe.

In Lap 07, as Ryu Suzaku offered an invite to the rest of the Task Force to Torukamu's mansion for Dream's birthday, Mr. EAD also expressed concerns that he would "ruin the party." Though Ryu attempted to change his mind, the android would not be swayed.

History

Mr. EAD was created by a mysterious group, to be a replica of Dr. Shigeru Kyupon, whose nickname was EAD. His creation date was stated to be November 16, 2201.

At some point, when the Mobile Task Force was hired to protect Kate Alen in Lap 6, Mr. EAD had developed a fondness for the singer. Even after he dismantled him to obtain his memory core, he insisted on protecting her from Zoda. His body was destroyed after overexerting his energy, but he was rebuilt afterwards, at the cost of having lost his memory. However, after watching Kate perform with her spark renewed, he grew attached again.

He has occasionally appeared throughout the anime in the year 2202.

He also reunited with Kate Alen during the end of Lap 15, driving alongside her and Ryu sometime after her cruise performance in Port Town.

During Lap 21, as potential backup, Mr. EAD wore a Princess Peach costume. He did not get to utilize the disguise, however, as Jack and Ryu were sent out instead.

He was also present during the final battle with Dark Million in Lap 51.

2207

Mr. EAD was not seen in person during the 2207 F-Zero Grand Prix in the Lap 51 epilogue, but his machine, the Great Star, was seen within the lineup for the race.

F-Zero GP Legend (GBA game)

In the F-Zero GP Legend GBA game, Mr. EAD is a playable character with his machine, the Great Star. He is not featured in the Story Mode.

Note: In the anime, Mr. EAD was stated to be created by Dr. Shigeru Kyupon, whose nickname was EAD. The organization is not mentioned.

Trivia

  • Mr. EAD's F-Zero Climax backstory is slightly different from the backstory provided in the anime. As F-Zero Climax is a game with many oddities in terms of timeline placement and pilot profiles, and is loosely based on the anime, this may just be another oddity.
  • Like his Mainverse counterpart, Mr. EAD is a reference to Nintendo's mascot, Mario. The disguise in Lap 21 is another reference, this time to Princess Peach from the Mario series.
