Bonjour.

My name is Ben Crow.

I hope you enjoy your stay in my userspace.

About Me

I'm this bloke of Korean-Iranian descent, born on the 28th of October in 1994.

I live in Troy, Michigan, where I have spent most of my life.

I am a licenced pharmacist in the state of Michigan, and I currently work as such.

I previously attended Ferris State University in Big Rapids and Grand Rapids for pharmacy school, and Oakland University in Rochester Hills for my undergraduate years.

I like writing stuff that you may or may not enjoy.

This includes short stories, novellas, visual novels, anecdotes, and more or less anything.

You can read some of my personal writings right here.

I am not terribly good at writing, but I have fun with it.

I usually listen to music of any sort while doing basically anything.

You can see and judge my taste in music here.

I play video games sometimes.

This should go without saying.

I'm particularly partial to shmups, adventure, simulation, and visual novels.

I quite enjoy reading, particularly "disturbing" literature, science fiction, true crime, and history.

Some of my favourite books include Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov, American Psycho by Bret Easton Ellis, Frankenstein by Mary Shelley, The Things They Carried by Tim O'Brien, and Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas by Hunter S. Thompson.

I am always open to new literature, though, and I always enjoy finding more and more new works to read.

I watch baseball whenever I can.

My favourite team is the Detroit Tigers, and I religiously follow them through thick and thin.

If a good series is on, sometimes I watch association football, ice hockey, and cricket.

My other interests include black tea, playing billiards, gin, post-Renaissance art, playing Magic: The Gathering, studying modern history, thrifting, gardening, biking, and birdwatching.

I do not live a terribly exciting existence.

On the Wiki

I officially joined F-Zero Wiki on 15 December 2018.

I usually rewrite articles.

Sometimes it's just a minor change in words.

Other times, I do total upheavals where the whole page is turned on its head.

Every so often, I bulk them up or cut them down.

Rarely, I create articles from scratch.

Occasionally, I upload images and audio files from the games.

I rarely create tables or templates by stealing code from other pages.

In total, I have made about 155 edits.

Note that I am almost strictly a writer and editor.

I am not much of a data miner, asset scraper, or professional gamer.

If you have inquiries about such, you might have better luck asking someone with more expertise than I.

I will change articles tens of times before I'm content with my work.

This applies to images as well.

I use British spellings out of habit from high school.

I sometimes put dumb jokes, pointless potshots, and stupid comments in my edit summaries.

Try not to take anything I say too seriously.

I can and will break policy if I feel it will improve a wiki, and I have done so in the past.

If you have a problem with any of this, too bad.

On criticism

I generally hold users to a certain standard on wikis, and F-Zero Wiki is no exception.

If I feel that your edits are sub-par or if your behaviour is unacceptable, I won't hesitate to call you out and tell you what you need to improve on.

That said, criticism is always a two-way street, and never a one-way street.

If at any point you feel that I need to fix my own behaviour or actions, I am always willing to listen, provided it comes across as reasonable.

We may not immediately agree, but at least we can gain a degree of understanding.

On communicating

If you need to contact me, I prefer being messaged on my talkpage.

If you absolutely must contact me outside of F-Zero Wiki, I can be reached on Discord at Monsieur Crow#4144, as well as Steam.

Please do not invite me to group chats.

I dislike being part of such.

On the games

F-Zero is still pretty fun.

F-Zero X was my first F-Zero, and still one of my favourites.

F-Zero: Maximum Velocity is okay in short bursts, I guess.

F-Zero GX is probably my favourite in the series.

F-Zero GP Legend is solid, even if Rick is kinda lame.

F-Zero Climax is quite enjoyable, even if I don't understand a word of it.

I have access to all of the games in the series via emulation, outside of the Satellaview games.

If you need an image, video, animation, or fact-check, you are always free to ask me for help.

Contributions

I made the following articles:

Future projects

  • Create pages subsections for the various controllers used in the series
  • Beef up the e-Reader page in order to cover some of the cards available for the game.
  • Create individualised Game Mode templates for the individual games. In the midst.
  • Create a page about the comic book featured with F-Zero. Finished.
  • Upload some nifty images for our articles.
    • Upload some higher-quality images for the custom parts pages. Finished.
  • Expand the Garage page Finished.
  • Knock out a few links in the red link club to the best of my ability Done here.
  • Create a "standard" that can be used for all racer, vehicle, and track pages.
    • If this project starts, expect the first articles to be either James McCloud (since he's my favourite racer) or Samurai Goroh (since he's appeared in almost every game and has fewer side appearances than Falcon)

If you have any questions for me, feel free the drop a line on my talkpage.

Skål.
