The Wii U is an eighth generation console. This game console features a GamePad with built-in camera, gyroscope controls, sound (built-in and headphone jack), amiibo support, and TV remote functionality. An optional but discontinued service known as Nintendo TVii gave the user a channel line-up for their area, to supplement the TV remote functionality.

It features Wii game and peripheral backwards compatibility that not limited to the vWii mode.

Although no new F-Zero games were released, there were two spin-off series that reference it and Virtual Console releases.
