Some Maintenance
Thanks for the account creation. I already uploaded many images and some images are pending deletion. You can see my contributions here. I found other images, such as File:SF.png, which can be deleted because of File:Super Falcon.png, but it used on someone's userpage and I am not sure if I should edit to use the better image, just to prevent the problem of Special:WantedFiles over on MarioWiki. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) 06:39, 23 September 2017 (UTC)
- All files deleted as requested; File:SF.png was used on an IP userpage and as such, that userpage was deleted. Serpent King 06:50, 23 September 2017 (UTC)
- How do you feel about organizing images like MarioWiki or DKWiki? I noticed no structure here on F-Zero Wiki. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) 07:06, 23 September 2017 (UTC)
- MediaWiki:Recentchangestext needs updating (seen on Special:RecentChanges) to maybe reflect Special:NewFiles and Category:Candidates for deletion. Only reason is that I am so used to MarioWiki. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) 19:22, 23 September 2017 (UTC)
- I feel that there are much bigger fish to fry right now than to structure a "things to do" thingy. It's not like you have to actually search for something, odds are that if you are looking at an article, something needs done to it. Serpent King 21:41, 23 September 2017 (UTC)
- Only reason I bring it up is that we have less than 500 images and we can establish a system early instead of later where it becomes unmanageable. It lets us know what was already uploaded for each game. Keep things organized with categories can make maintenance way easier. That's what I've learned on MarioWiki. Instead of using Template:Image right away, we can look at a database of images. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) 21:59, 23 September 2017 (UTC)

Well, I'm having thumbnail preview issues with my maps found in F-Zero and F-Zero: Maximum Velocity. On MarioWiki, I estimated the maximum dimensions would be under the square root of 40,000,000 (40 Megapixels), or 6324 x 6324. I didn't know it was a setting for MediaWiki. I guess Porplemontage on MarioWiki has a higher setting I estimated than here on F-Zero Wiki, because 4096x4096 uploads aren't getting a preview. I don't know if you can adjust this setting or not. You seem to be the only active mod here. Reducing the dimensions of the images could result in a higher file size, which could exceed 2MB, because of blurring of sprites. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) 22:46, 23 September 2017 (UTC)
- I have no access to MW backend, I'll try to get someone who does though. Serpent King 23:09, 23 September 2017 (UTC)
SmashWiki
Two replacements for SmashWiki:
- smashwiki:File:MuteCityFZX.png - File:FZX Mute City Figure 8.png
- smashwiki:File:BigBlueFZeroX.png - File:FZX Big Blue Cylinder.png
--Wildgoosespeeder (talk) 05:04, 26 September 2017 (UTC)
- Concerned about the resolution? See our MarioWiki discussion here (note the test results part). --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) 06:01, 26 September 2017 (UTC)
- Found one more: smashwiki:File:Mute City SNES.png File:FZeroBoost.png. Why? JPEG converted to PNG. I have qualms about this sort of thing on MarioWiki. I went so far as to propose a ban on the practice, and the policy is now enforced because the proposal passed. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) 21:52, 26 September 2017 (UTC)
- We have no such policy on SmashWiki, and given that, the new file would be pointless. Serpent King 00:48, 28 September 2017 (UTC)
- That was just a side note to explain how I feel about JPEG to PNG conversion instead of replacement (two different concepts on MarioWiki). The MarioWiki policy page is the shorthand version of what transpired during the proposal. If you meant no official policy for screenshot resolutions, I must have misunderstood you on MarioWiki. I thought you had a policy page on SmashWiki about how to take good screenshots or something. The closest page I could find on image policy is a general policy. I guess it is just an unofficial but generally accepted practice amongst editors. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) 05:40, 28 September 2017 (UTC)

Need some citation
Wondering if there's any source you would know of that mentions The Skull's real names. F-Zero GX doesn't say anything on them. Alex95 (talk) 02:47, 13 October 2017 (UTC)
- Arbin Gordon has been verified in F-Zero X and F-Zero GX Japanese games. I even see a music file called "arbingordon_t.adx" in the game disc I own, examining disc contents in Dolphin emulator. "Sterling LaVaughn", was it in a guide or Nintendo Power? --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) 04:05, 13 October 2017 (UTC)
